There are so many exciting learning opportunities for us this year in Year 6 and I know we are going to really enjoy the topics that are going to be covered.
In History, we will be delving into the topics of World War 2, The Windrush Generation and Monarchs through time, while in Geography we are going to be discovering about Mountains, Earthquakes and Natural Disasters, comparing where we live with places in Europe and North America and also looking at how and why people have settled in the places they have all over the world.
Our Science journey will continue studies in living things and their habitats and animal life cycles, and we will find out more about forces, earth and space and changing materials.
Widening our learning journey, we will further our understanding of spreadsheets and learn about binary, networks and blogging in ICT. One of our Art topics is photography: another is ‘Still Life’. Among other things, we’ve got playgrounds and steady hand games to design in DT. In RE we will look at all the major faiths and think about art in religion and how different religions help people when life gets hard. Sport is on the menu in French and of course there is music and PE to get excited about too.
Best of all, there are SO many wonderful books for us to read, listen to and study this year some of which we will link to our writing, others that we will enjoy purely for pleasure!
It’s going to be a great year!
